Herbal Bonsai
The Herbal Bonsai is a creation of culinary,
medicinal and fragrant herbs designed in a Jingzhi Penjing style. Chinese
Penjing can be divided into two groups depending on the different types of
scenery represented: Jingzhi Penjing or miniature landscapes featuring plant
life, and Shanshui Penjing or miniature landscape featuring rocks and water
scenes.
The main feature of Jingzhi Penjing is
plant life such as trees, herbs and bamboos set off by stones or rocks of
various sizes or by metal or terra cotta miniature pavilions, pagodas, bridges,
boats, birds, beasts, houses or figurines for ornamental purposes.
Sometimes scenery in the form of mountains or hills may be created in the
background by modeling earth, stones and rocks.
A bonsai is a living work of art, a live
"sculpture" that never stops growing or changing. Such a piece of art is
never finished. It is passed on from generation to friend to generation.
It becomes an extensions of its owner.
The Herbal Bonsai is also very
useful because your cuttings can be herbs for cooking, medicinal teas, fragrant
bouquets or new plants!
